earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 struck off the southern coast of Japan on
August 8, 2024.
The quake was centered near the city of
Nichinan in Miyazaki Prefecture, causing significant shaking and prompting a
tsunami advisory.
Fortunately,
there have been no reports of serious damage or injuries, though some minor
injuries and structural damages were noted.
Authorities
have issued a "megaquake" warning, urging residents to stay vigilant
and prepared for potential aftershocks.
